RHEL 6 - route-device file and other network-scripts

I have a couple of questions regarding RHEL 6 and the network-scripts.

1.) Is /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/route-device file still an acceptable way to add a route?

2.) Where are static routes saved in RHEL 6?(excluding /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/route-device)

3.) Is adding a route command to /etc/rc.local file a bad way to add a route? This seems like more of a work around rather than a acceptable way to add a route.

Hi,

Please find below my comments.

1) Yes
2) Yes, but I have not tested the old /etc/sysconfig/static-routes. I still think that it will work as more general routes (not linked to a specific device).
3) I also do not recommend anything in /etc/rc.local, as it runs at every runlevel, while the above takes in account the fact the network is up or not.
