RHEL 5.4 ExpressCard/34 PnP
 

I noticed that pciehp has gone away in RHEL 5.4. What now performs that hotplug functionality?

I have an eSATA expresscard/34 that works perfect when installed on a cold boot, but when plugging the card into a running system, it is ignored. Also, I have to shut down the system to either unplug the card or disconnect the external drive, else smartd and several other daemons go bonkers.

So, can someone please tell me where the hotplug for this card is now performed that the old hotplug functionality has disappeared? I want to start to dig around some to see if I can figure out what is going on, but Google has been worthless in providing a clue where to begin to look.

I have pciehp in CentOS 5.4 kernels but in centosplus ones, with all modules loaded. I do not use regular ones.

Okay, I see where in RHEL5.4, it looks like all the hotplug stuff is now in the kernel. So, how do I debug hotplug not working on a ExpressCard/34?

The card works perfect if plugged in at boot time, but it fails to work at all if plugged in after boot.

Hmm, like my HP LJ1020. But I sorted that out eventually. Play with udev rules (/etc/udev/rules.d) and /etc/hotplug/. I can not help you more than this, but you better contact Red Hat for this one, either via support or via bugzilla.
