Hi all,

Am using RHEL 4 AS on AMD 64 bit pc. Problem is pc gets hang automtatically and there is nothing on screen, it shows only scatterred colors on screen and then i have to hard reboot the pc. As am using this pc as FTP server and its also live so please provide some permanent solution for this problem.

So boot into 'text mode' and fix the X windows configuration......

When the grub splash screen is displayed press any key
Select the Linux boot choice and press the 'E' key
Select the line that begins with something like 'kernel /vmlinuz' press the 'E' key
At the end of the line add a space followed by the number three (3)
Press the 'Enter' key followed by the 'B' key

Log on as root (supply the password when prompted)

Try typing something like;

system-config-display --reconfigure --set resolution 800x600 --set depth 16

This should get a generic working X window configuation, to test type; startx

If not, try again this time add the switch --set driver vesa to the command above.
