I'm new here but not new to Linux and definitely not new to RH. Anyway, I just pulled down RHEL 4 Beta 1 WS and am about to give it a spin on my desktop and laptop.
Has anyone given it a shot? Have you run into many problems?
How is the KDE support compared to RHEL 3 - better, worse, or about the same?
- Login to RHN.
- Select the "Channels" tab.
- Select "Easy ISOs" from the menu on the left.
- Scroll down to "Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS (v. 4 for x86) Beta".
You could also choose AS or ES. The only difference is the first disc. Discs 2 - 4 of the binaries are the same for all three versions.
On a side note, I've installed this on an AMD Athlon 2200 and have been quite pleased with it ever since. There are a few minor bug but they aren't worth mentioning here. KDE support is, as expected, behind the Gnome support however it is still very serviceable.
Yeah, but it's kind of nuts to increase the bandwidth usage on Red Hat's master server, when there are many mirrors world-wide. So, prefer a nearby mirror.
