RHAS 2.1 hangs at random

Dear all,

I'm facing a strange problem that at my organization there are 2 IBM eServer x345 running Redhat linux advance server 2.1 hangs randomly. It's the 1st time I face such a strange problem on Linux. Can anybody advise how can I drill down and fix this problem ?

Hi,

Sorry, that was a stupid remark! I have found that systems running linux freeze up when the system is overheating. What environment is the server located in, is it very hot? Some IBM systems use very poor quality components and I have found that CPU fans aren't great in IBM systems. Another option would be to try and capture data about the server performance over a period of time.
