RH9/sendmail segmentation fault

First post here - sorry if I've missed any FAQ's.

sendmail-8.12.8-9.90 fails with segmentation faults on my i386-RH9 box. I tried reinstalling the RPM, no luck, up2date, no update, later version of Sendmail, fails with BerekelyDB version error.

I'm at a loss for ideas, any suggestions?

Hi Red30x,

I am running Redhat 9 on i386.

I have had the same sementation faults with evolution, mozilla and mozilla firebird. A few ideas for you:

I can usually resolve the segmentation fault with a reboot - not that this is a desirable solution, and one I don't like doing..

If uninstalling and reinstalling the relevant rpms doesn't work, I discovered from another thread the idea of checking the path to the program..

e.g do:

$ whereis sendmail

or

$ whereis mozilla

and next try typing in the explicit and full path to the executable file.

If the full path run gives you a working and running program then you need to maybe edit the PATH environment config info (I am about to find out how to do that myself)..

Hope this is of some help. I am a newbie, so your answers will also help me.

regards,

Justin
