Question RH9 reinstall - dump/restore - DNS info not seen

Before uninstalling RH9 to check out Fedora, I did a full dump of /etc /var and /home directories. When I decided to reinstall RH9, I did a successful restore of:

/etc/named.conf
/var/named/*

but when I use the redhat-config-bind tool, the original information (i.e. domains) does not show up. The domains were setup using this tool originally and the files are unmodified. Why is the tool not able to source these files? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
