RH9: Error loading HID devices (Kernel 2.6.6)

Hi all

I have just successfully upgraded my kernel to 2.6.6

However, there's just 1 problem I faced. When I boot up my system, I always get the following error:

Quote:
Error loading HID devices.. FATAL: module HID not found
The rest loads fine.

Any idea?

This could be something with USB-keyboards (or wireless desktops). I got the same message when i compiled my 2.6.6 kernel and forgot the usb-keyboard-support.

Else, i don't know a solution. Still a newbie :P

Hi there

I did compile USB support, USB mouse and keyboard support (as modules) during the processing of compiling the kernel.

Hence, I don't think it's an issue with the USB keyboard because it loads fine.

I might be wrong.. correct me

From kernel 2.4 -> 2.6 the names of the modules changed a bit. hid is now called usbhid and it includes the modules for usb-mouse and -keyboard.

If you need more help, here' s a guide to help you: http://www.linux-sxs.org/upgrading/migration26.html
