RH9, alias and tcsh shell

I am running RH9, with tcsh shell, and kde.
I want to add some alias to be executed
everytime I log (i.e. alias ls 'ls -s', etc).

Reading man tcsh, it is written I should create
.tcshrc file and include the alias there.

alias I want to include

set prompt .... (even there is one error with set..it says error).
alias rm 'rm -i'
alias ls 'ls -s'

I have done it but it does not work
Any clue?

MOre info: in my home directory there are
some .bashrc files, could it be any incompatibility?

Thanks

Did you start a new shell after making your changes?
What does "echo $SHELL" give you?
What is the error with the set prompt line?
What is the line in .tcshrc with set prompt?

You can have .bashrc and .tcshrc at the same time. One is used when you start a bash shell and the other when you start tcsh. Each shell ignores the config file for the other.
