RH7.3 and AIC79xx controller

I'm attempting to install Red Hat 7.3 on my new server (2 x Intel Xeon
2.4, supermicro board) but I'm having trouble getting it to recognise the
two SCSI (SCA) drives in there, which are hooked up to a Adaptec AIC-7920
controller.

I really need to get Red Hat 7.3 on there because the server it is
replacing ran that, and all the software our group currently uses. I did
want to do a straight clone, but I guess it was never going to be that
easy!

I've stuck in an IDE drive and installed RH on there with a newer kernel
from atrpms.net, which supposedly has aic79xx drivers built in. I've built
the adaptec 79xx drivers from source and installed the RPM from their
website, but still the drives are not recognised.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
