RH7.1 - pop3 - xinetd - Can't telnet 110 from network
Hi. I'm hitting Redhat 7.1, where I have changed "disable = yes" to "disable = no" in all the pop3 related files in /etc/xinetd.d. I restarted xinetd, and:
[root@www /root]# netstat -an | grep 110
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:110 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
[root@www /root]#
I can do a `telnet localhost 110` with what seems to be success, but if I attack it w/ a `telnet 192.168.1.101 110` from my windows box on the LAN, I can't get in. I can ssh into the box, so there's connectivity between my windows box and my linux box.
My guess is that RedHat 7.1 has some default settings that don't allow connections to port 110. Is this correct? Is IPCHAINS used? If this is the problem, can someone point me at how to turn it off?
If that wouldn't be the problem, can you suggest what else I should look at?
TIA.
