RH keeps messing up...:(

I am frustrated with Linux atm, and instead of saying it sucks I am going to be constructive. I have installed RH 9 four times now due to a display problem or messing up gnome X trying to fix it. Yes, I have posted at two forums trying to fix it (i got many replies none fixed the problem ). So I messed up RH 9 awhile ago and took a break and reinstalled tonight to try again. Then what happens? I get drivers and there is no X11 directory so I cannot correct my moniter and then my mouse does whatever it wants. I move it a bit is clicking this and that loading this and I get pissed of and restart. So my question is, I am very new to linux; is the RH 9 build too hard for a n00bie? Should I try another one like Lindows? Or is it probably a hardware issue. Because frankly, I have tried to get RH to display properly many times and it never does and keeps pulling crap on me and if there is a better build please tell me, otherwise I am going give up on Linux. This is not a threat just a last attempt to get hope in Linux back because I have given it a shot and it is never working and just causing grief :\.

The first thing to do is check your hardware compatability:
http://hardware.redhat.com/hcl/

If everything is ok then procede with the install. Since you appear to have plenty hard drive space just do a complete install to ensure that you have all libraries/headers and compilers installed.

When you are asked if you want a text or gui login then choose TEXT. This will allow you to configure your GUI easier.

If everything goes to plan and you end up with text a login prompt then post an update in this thread.

Most monitors should work with the generics. It is more likely to be an incompatiable video card or too high a resolution for your monitor.
