reinstall or restore kde

Did a baaaad thing. Tried installing kgamma, it halted during make install because of a dependency error. After rebooting my kde desktop is messed up. All my desktop icons are there, but the menu panels are missing most of the links and applications. Is there anyway to restore the default kde desktop or restore my old one??

What I believe I did was overwrote the /etc/kde folder.
