Redhat linux basic/important libraries.

Hi, I need your help.

What are the basic/important libraries used in redhat linux?

Library refers to something such as binutils, glibc,...

Can u tell me some more library beside the 2 mentioned above? And can u give me some overview of these libraries? why linux need to use these libraries ? what are their functions ?

I don't know whether i refer to them (binutils, glibc, gcc...) as library is right or wrong. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks,
