I have RedHat Linux 9. I recently got a dax 56kbps modem (internal with motorola chipset) They provided the driver rpm package.I could install the package.But the modem doesn't work.Kudzu can't detect that at bootup time. After logging as root i got a message like pci i810 device detected or something like that. Could you please suggest a method that i should actually follow to access internet through linux with my current modem.I utterly fed up with the os that i currently uses.Please Specify the files to edit,programmes to download etc.That will be so much helpful. Not only for me but by friends also. I expect a good solution.thank you

I am sorry to say..... but support for SM56 is no more present in the newer versions of RH. I have a same modem ...... but the best and easiest solution would be to buy an external modem and hook it up with the serial port of your box.
