Redhat exported NFS; mounted on AIX

First post on this list.
This is the first Linux build I have performed... So far 3 times. I am testing recoverability.
I have exported a filesystem on the Redhat server, it is mounted on an AIX server and written to by Sybase DB dump processes.
An aarchive is performed on the Linux server. After the archive is complete the files are deleted. From the Linux server I restore the archived data to the local filesystem, which is already exported. Upon completion of the restore, I can see(ls -lR) the files on the Linux server, but cannot see them from the Aix box(ls -lR). If I specify their path explictly from the AIX box, I can copy them, move them and even import then back in a database, but cannot see them. If I umount the filesystem from the AIX box and then mount it again I can see all the files.

Has anybody seen this before ?
