Redhat Advanced Server 3 64 bit mode

It ought to be simple - but alas...

I am trying to figure out how to get redhat AS 3 to run in 64 bit mode on an AMD64 machine. I have installed OS, but it seems to be all 32 bit. The kernels in /boot, all the system SW etc is 32 bit. And I know it is possible to get all things in 64 bit, since I have access to an identical server that is full of 64 bit programs (including the kernel images).

Am I supposed to get a special 64 bit version? But where? It doesn't appear to be for sale on Redhat's site.

yes, it requires a 64-bit-specific installation cd/iso to install a 64-bit version of red hat. i see rhel3 as/es x86_64 isos on the rhn for download, although it is entirely possible that you have to contact a rh rep to purchase these.

As long as your subscription is current, you ought to be able to see it on RHN. Go to https://rhn.redhat.com and login, then go to "Channels" on the top bar, and then, on the left, there is a button that says "All" (Subset of "Software Channels") Click on that, and it will bring up all channels. Scroll down until you find the channel for the 64-bit ( Most likely "Red Hat Application Server 3.0 (AS for ia64)" or something like that) and you should be able to D/L the ISO's from there. Happy hunting.
