RedHat 9 with Bad blocks?

Hi Guys,

Okay I've been trying to load Redhat 9, but I get this message saying I have Bad blocks on my Hda1 recomend not using Hda1. So how do I sort this problem out, have tried to format but doesn't work or am I doing something wrong. Or would it be easier to get a new hard drive.
Have yer any Ideas.
Thanx in anticipation

Hi chrismc2

At exactly which point during the install do you have these errors? - have you already got partitions on your drive?

I've installed it on my pc before but it froze in Evolution then crashed I didn't know what to do from there, so I tried to reboot but couldn't get it to boot-up. So I thought i'd do a clean reinstall. All seamed ok, then it got to the stage where it starts to load the programmes onto the hard drive. That's when the Error message came up, also tried to load it again but same sort of message only Hda2 has bad blocks. hope this info helps

This happened to me once before, what I did was boot up into the redhat restore off the install CDs, then I manually did a fsck.ext3 on all my partitions and checked for bad blocks and output them to a file. I then used the bad blocks file to create new partitions with those known badblocks. Right now Im at school, running windoze so I can't give you the exact commands. But now my comp runs fine
