redhat 7.5 Maipo : Boot stop blank screen blink cursor
 

Hi,
I have HP Proliant Server and the root filesystem got full.
the node was somehow rebooted and never came up.
I did boot up on emergency mode on DVD and regain space but now when boot normal I have this black screen and cursor blinking.
I have tried several option by
- removing rhgb quite
- adding edd=off debug option 7 level
- I did even reinstall grub
no way to get any output on the screen once I select the hard drive for boot.
Any idea is welcome

Bolded a piece of what you posted for emphasis only. That is your entire problem....boot from optical/USB, mount your hard drive, and free up space. More than likely you have some huge log files or old packages from updates which you can remove. You say you 'regain space', but don't say how much or what you did, from where.

Since you don't tell us any details about the hardware, or what you've actually done, there isn't a lot we can tell you. You can contact Red Hat support for assistance, since you're suing RHEL 7...you are PAYING for RHEL, right???

To give more information. I have a below hardware.
- BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure
- ProLiant BL460c G7

I did delete old file and have and sitting at 75% usage out of 118GB which give me enough room to boot I guess.

For the readhat support I have to go via a third party and due to some politics it will take sometime before they look at this issue.
I want to just quickly check if something I can fix right away.

So are you booted now? Any error(s)/message(s)??? If so, what are they? What point in the boot process did it stop at? Did you pull down/view any logs when you had the hard drive mounted?
Possibly; but since we don't have any relevant information, we can't tell you. There should be no 'politics'...call Red Hat, open a case; simple. If this is for your business/work, that's why you pay for support, so you can get 24/7 support and help when you need it.

Actually the OP's company may have just downloaded 7.5 for free when it came out and never paid for a ctc, therefore no updates, no support ....

Quite true; but just because you can do something, doesn't mean it's a good idea. A business paying a nominal fee for support is worth it, just for situations like this. Even if you don't, they can pay for a single support case as well.

OP never came back to say if they got booted or not, or provided any further information. 25% free on a 118GB file system SHOULD be enough, but we still don't know what the OP is doing/running.

I didn't say it's a good idea ;) but (as we all know), it's not that unusual unfortunately ...
The fact this system is still on 7.5 hints in that direction, which is why it crossed my mind.

As you say though, until the OP comes back, we'll just have to guess.
