RedHat 4 and 3Ware incompatibility??

Hi,

The server originally came with one of those sort of hardware sort of software RAID controllers mainly built into the BIOS (sort of a WinRRAID like WinModem). I installed a 3ware 9650SE Serial ATA RAID Controller and configured it to simply mirror the two installed physical drives. The problem is that the installer doesn't recognize it at all (claims there are no disks).

I'm trying to install RedHat AS4 (ES4 without support). Everything I read says that the RAID card is compatible with RedHat Linux (no specific version). Is that not correct? Or is something likely configured screwy?

Thanks,
Rob

Rob,

Do you have a USB cd rom? Try it and see if it works.

Is this a new motherboard?

Tony,

The problem is not the CD ROM. I can boot the install disks just fine. (Or am I missing the point of your question?)

And it better be a new mother-board because it's a brand new machine. I neglected to mention that in my original post.

why don't you try RHEL5 or CENTOS 5 (or 5.1), instead of RHEL4.
They should have a better recognition system
