red hat up2date icon
How can I get the up2date icon back on my panel?
I tried right clicking on the panel and adding it but it does not seem to work.

I had problems with this in Gnome yesterday and couldn't figure out the problem. Even right clicking on the menu choice would put an icon in the taskbar but it wasn't clickable. In Kde it works like a charm but Gnome refuses to cooperate.

Same problem here using gnome, i tried to start this service up but still no update icon, also tried to download new gnome rpm update package...no result.
Well of course, was able to run "up2date -u" on the command prompt anyway.

click the red hat on the lower bar. Then go to system tools. Under this you will see "Red Hat Network Alert Icon." Click on that

incase you hate gnome like me, or run a server without X at all or cant always be at the machine itself to upgrade. learning the commands are great:
the simplest is: up2date -u which will upgrade everything not in the ignore list
up2date -p will update your system profile with rhn so taht u dont download anything you dont need
up2date -u <package> will update just that one package and will also grab it's dependancies
example: up2date -u openssl is one that i've had to use recently.
there are more but im still learning, i actually forgot the one to upgrade the kernel, because the kernel appears in the ignore list by default. a search should find it because someone told me how to use it about a month ago here.
