Red Hat Linux slow login and opening of application.

Hi all, I would like to check if anyone encountered this problem before. When I tried to login on the server on the machine itself, it takes a long time. The same problem occurs when I tried to open application too. I have done a reboot but seems like the problem still there? Does anyone have any solution to it as I'm just started to use red hat linux. Thanks in advance.

Rebooting a linux machine when it is slow - forget windows here. Check and see what is running on the computer. Look at the output of 'top' and see what proceses are consuming most of the processing power. Also run 'iostat' and see is there some kind of large i/o happening.
Hope this helps.

I manage to resolve this issue. Think the problem occurs when I set the static IP. After I switch back to dynamic IP, everything seems to go back to normal now. Thanks everyone for the advice.
