The Red Hat Enterprise Linux Developer Suite subscription is available at no cost by registering with the Red Hat Developers Program
I think this is interesting, in my professional live I have to deal with RedHat (RHEL6 desktop so far) and having to opportunity running it at home for research and testing wihtout the company restrictions and prepare for RHEL7 is good.
I know there is CentOS, but that's not the same.
I am curious on how many machines I can run installations, found no info for this so far.
I wonder if this is a reaction of the MS + Ubuntu deal or if this was planed anyway.
I see, I see, said the blind man as he picked up his hammer and saw.

See, technically the channels are a feature of the RHN, and not a RHEL feature at all. I have never used them, I do use groups and collections, but not channels. I have not checked the CentOS network to see if channel support is there, but I would not be surprised at all if it were.
Everything I compile on CentOS then installs and runs exectly the same on RHEL, and I had thought you may have found something that did not. Thank you for clarifying.

yep, but I have to say that this subscription manager and the available subscription urls/names are really challenging,
there are many many channels/subscriptions things, there is satelit , no satelit,.. or so, rt, beta, server, optionals, extras, ...
and than the developer toolsets, where I am most interested in.
I suspect this is just so to be able to make an exam about that possible :-)
one of the the nice think when I learn about them at home is that after the company migrate to RHEL7, where I have to eat the machine as it is served and no possibility to play arround, I can validate much more competent if everything is configured correct.

no doubt about that.
ps: additional info, it seems that I can run this developer on one 'real' installation and up to 10000 virtual instalnces, is at least what my subscription page says at the moment,
it also says that the subscription is valid one year, will be interesting if if will become longer valid automatically.
