Question Red Hat 9.0 and Promise Ultra133

A couple of days ago I downloaded Red Hat 9.0 and tried to install it on my pc and when I got to the menu asking me to choose from the GUI or the text installation no matter the option chosen, I hear the video clicking and the installation stops. I'm sure it's my Promise Ultra133 tx2 HD controller. Is there a way to bypass this problem. Previously I installed Knoppix on my HD and it did fine.

Ouch. Not sure what you can do, but the OpenOffice suite is pretty nice if you can get RedHat working. It seems much more stable than StarOffice.

Mine Works

Hi

I've got a G7VAXP Gigabyte MB with Promise 20976 on board. Redhat 9 works a treat and mounts all the HDs and even my DVD+RW on the ide3 and ide4 ports.

Whats the MB?

My MB is ASUS P2B-F with a PIII-600 and my video card is a Matrox Marvel G400. I also tried to install the linux distro and it wouldn't recognize my 2 HD installed on the Promise.

You can't install RedHat on an NTFS drive. You might check that. You can install on FAT32.

Finally found the real problem. Just unplugged the Matrox TV card.

Thanks for you help, everybody.
