hey guys;
i recently wanted to install the pcmcia-cs core drivers latest version for which i have to disable CONFIG_PCMCIA and recompile the new kernel.However i encountered some problems in doing so:
here is what i did
[/usr/src/linux-2.4.18-14]make clean
[/usr/src/linux-2.4.18-14]make mrproper
[/usr/src/linux-2.4.18-14]cp configs/kernel-2.4.18-i386.config .config
[/usr/src/linux-2.4.18-14]make xconfig
i disabled the CONFIG_PCMCIA,previously it was loaded as module
[/usr/src/linux-2.4.18-14]make dep
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.18-14/arch/i386/boot'
make[1]: Nothing to be done for `dep'.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.4.18-14/arch/i386/boot'
/bin/sh: -c: line 1: unexpected EOF while looking for matching ``'
/bin/sh: -c: line 2: syntax error: unexpected end of file
make: *** [include/linux/version.h] Error 2
could someone tell me why is make dep failing?also there is no such file as include/linux/version.h :s.where do i get this file from?i have been working on this for hours and looking on the web for answers
your help is much appreciated.
