Recompile Apache in RH9/FC1

Hi all,

I have searched previous posts for the answer to this question but without sucess so here goes;

When I compile/install apache from source on a RH9/FC1 how do I confirgure it to replace the existing version of apache? Do I simply specify a location using the prefix command (e.g. ./configure --prefix=PREFIX) and it will overwrite with the new install? If this is the case please could someone let me know the corect path to use.

Also, if anyone has the time, the same question goes to install recompiling php with the above mentioned apache install.

Any help on this subject wil be gratefuly recieved

Cheers

Lumux
