confirmation / details

Hi,

I've got the same problem and it appears to me, that the cd-r contains to sessions, one with iso9660 and one with udf, which has recently been created with roxy cdcreator and works fine under windows (2k) (without roxio installed) but is unusable with linux (fc5).

The point about mount the media with
%> mount -t udf -oro /dev/hdX /mnt
is, that the udf driver does not correctly identify the last session.
It does not allow to give it explicitly, (using -oro,session=1) but then fails with:
dmesg: UDF-fs: No partition found (1)
.
I think this is because of a bad cd: cd-info returns:
Disc mode is listed as: CD DATA (Mode 2)
CD-ROM Track List (1 - 2)
#: MSF LSN Type Green? Copy?
1: 00:02:00 000000 data true yes
2: 00:08:62 000512 data false no
170: 05:29:01 024526 leadout (55 MB raw, 54 MB formatted)
Media Catalog Number (MCN):
Last CD Session LSN: 0
^^
I have not yet found wether this is a valid value.

Did you find a solution how to use that cd with linux?

sincerly,
mbraun

Seriously, Red Hat 7.3 is very old. After that Red Hat 8, 9, then Fedora Core 1, 2, 3, 4, and now 5 has been released. Red Hat ES, WS have separate releases.

I'd recommend that you upgrade your distro.

The latest (issue 61) issue of Linux User & Developer includes a DVD Fedora Core 5 install disc.
