Re-create /proc directory?

Can this be done?

fsck reports all partitions clean, but /proc is empty and Linux (9) won't boot.

fails on: mounting proc filesys dup2: Bad File descriptor.

the /proc directory is a pseudo file system that gets created by the system on the fly. You can't manually recreate it. It's normal that it's empty before you boot - and it might be a bad thing if it isn't.

But I don;t know what could be wrong with your setup though.

I've just RTFM'd that out.. <sigh>
I did finally find a reference in a linux archive to Bad File Descriptor msg.

It said to rm /dev/null - recreate and then boot

I have booted and fsck is currently running. So I have gotten further at this point. I will update shortly with, hopefully, good (understatement) news..

It worked! It worked! It worked!

It's up! It's up! It's up!

I will never re-boot Linux again!!!! - just kidding

Here is how it happened:

shutdown now (gee, what about that h or r thing??? Mmmmm?)

Then to compound my error: I Just Turned It Off!

Ahhahah.

To quote Hermione of Harry Potter fame: _What_ an _Idiot_!

Thank you everyone who looked in on me!
