RE: Can I install xine or mplayer by just using yum?
Hi all, been having some problems installing a video player, just wondering if I can automate this with yum, last time I ran yum, it updated everything, including a kernel update, and it screwed my video drivers, which I think because od XFree 4.3.0, XFree-Mesa-libGL.
Anyone done it succesfully. Thanks MunCH |
actually, just a general yum question, from reading the yum man page i should be able to do a complete update minus certain pakages like this # yum install "filename" ----exclude=XFree86* but i get this error:
[root@localhost root]# yum update --exclude=XFree86* --exclude=kernel* --exclude=openoffice* --exclude=kde* Gathering header information file(s) from server(s) Server: Red Hat Linux 9 - i386 - Base Server: Red Hat Linux 9 - Freshrpms Server: Red Hat Linux 9 - Updates Finding updated packages Downloading needed headers Cannot find any package matching --exclude=XFree86* available to be updated. Cannot find any package matching --exclude=kernel* available to be updated. Cannot find any package matching --exclude=openoffice* available to be updated.
