Question About Centos
I have a general question. I have a dedicated server and I was wondering what centos version is most reliable? Reason I ask is I notice a lot going with 5.6 and such. Are the 6.0+ versions less reliable for server?
Thanks in advance. |
please use useful thread titles. The latest 5 or 6 releases are broadly equally stable. Now that 6 is 3 minor baselines into it's life, there are really no known majot issues. I've never found either to be unstable. That's really the point of the distro when compared to Fedora etc, which are much more up to date, but risk security and stability as a result.

Thanks for the reply. I wondered. So from the reply I assume that either 5 or 6 would be sufficient. I just wondered if there was a server side limitation of any kind to 6. Thanks for clearing that up for me :)

both are VERY stable
However unless you NEED, 100% need, the older 5 series ( CentOS 5.9 is current and the VERY LAST minor upgrade ) 5.9 will only now receive security fixes I would use CentOS 6.3 |
