QM_MODULES error revisited

Hi

I put links to all the packages in this thread for people seraching the same problem.

I upgraded to 2.6 kernel and i received the QM_MODULES error so i installed from source the newest version of module-init-tools:
ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kerne...rusty/modules/

I generated a new modprobe.conf
./generate-modprobe.conf /etc/modprobe.conf

I turned on auto loading of modules by adjusting /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit as per modutils faq

Then i installed the latest ersion of modutils:
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/uti.../modutils/v2.4/

Now in 2.6 i can boot. lsmod doesn't error but it shows there are no modules loaded, modprobe always errors with the QM_modules error.

I am now trying to install the rpm of module-init-tools but it complains about failed dependencies of awk and crond. I have the newest version of awk installed so why is there a problem ?? The rpm install of crond results in more failed dependencies. I could be here all day trying to looking for packages and even then im not sure this rpm is going to work.

Theres a lot of posts on google about qm_modules but the module-init-tools seems to work for most people. Has anyone solved this problem or can offer any helpful advice to get the problem solved. I don't know too much about red hat so its pretty frustrating trying to suss out what i could do.

thanks
