Public key for libacl-2.2.39-6.el5.x86_64.rpm is not installed

My Redhat 5.5 recently quit communicating with rhn. (This is about the 3rd time in the last few months this happened.) I rebuilt the rpm data base which didn't help. Submitted a ticket to Redhat online help after attempting to rebuild the rpm data base under their instruction and failing the suggestion was to download an rpm database from one of "my other servers." I have a desktop. Now they suggest I re-install my system. I refused and pulled out my installation disk and did an "upgrade." I got my system to communicate with RHN and download the updates but now each update aborts with the message that the public key is not installed. Any ideas on how to get the public keys for the updates? I did try the rpm --import GPG key as per the knowledge base article, it didn't help

Thank you

Er. rpm --import the right GPG key is supposed to do it. did you get the right keys for your RHEL version? did you run the command as root? did it succeed?

Thank you,
I am running RHEL 5.5 on an AMD Athlon machine. Sorry I was in a hurray last night.

I did run the command in root. Even signed off the user system and signed back in as root. I don't know if this has any relevance but as the system is booting I see a message, that goes by too quick to get the whole message, "stating import **** failed" due to something to do with python.

I really don't want to re-install my Linux system but ever since I installed rhel 5 I have had nothing but trouble. It takes weeks to get the system back to where I want it, I lose email data, and I spend a lot of time sending tickets to rh because some aspect just stops working. I am no fan of MS but at least there is a level of stability I am not seeing with RH. If I decide to stay with linux this will be the 3rd re-install in the last 10 or so months.

So after the venting do you think there is a way to salvage the system? Or, should I just dump the idea of running linux and go back to Windows?

P.S. Sort of. My Open Office just stopped saving documents, after spending an hour or two on writing a presentation.

I just read the pop up on how to ask good questions, saw a lot about stupidity. I must confess I am stupid. You may treat me as such but I do want to learn.

Thanks again

I have installed some 10-12 CentOS(RHEL) 5.x systems and I never had any issues like that. FYI, I also use AMD.

I think your problems have something to do with you installing packages from sources (tar) or installing newer versions that someone else compiled (not from stable yum repositories). Correct me if I am wrong.

Servers MUST NOT be messed with if you want to soundly sleep at night.

If you use it for Desktop, please ask me for good locations for packages you need. I managed to create repository with Open Office 3.2, Skype 2.1.81beta, and many other packages for CentOS/RHEL 5.x, so I will help you to install what you need without compromising stability and/or security.
