Problems installing RHEL 7.2 on JBOD
 

Hi Guys !
I'm new here , so i hope we'll have fun together from now and on

I'm trying to install RHEL7.2 on Cisco UCS-C460 [about 45 TB] without RAID , just JBOD .

the user that i'm installing it for , asked to give 100 GB to "/" , and keep the rest unallocated .

I wanted to ask, what should i choose in the "installation detination" window in order to do it . http://www.interload.co.il/upload/1243775.PNG

Should i mark all of the disks ? should i mark only the 1st disk, and then make manual partitioning on it [and the rest of space from the other disk will be shown in the OS later too ?]

I would be happy if someone will be able to explain little bit about it , and what should i do

I wouldn't install to any of those disk's until you know what is on them and how much free space you have to install Red Hat. And the user indicates where he wants RH installed.

If the user wants the rest "unallocated" you will have to manually partition because Anaconda will automatically create a boot, home and swap partition.

***You might want to list all of those partitions so someone can take a look at them first.***

That all looks pre-allocated. So your user is happy for you to just wipe 45 TiB ?. Might be best to check first - who gets kicked in the arse if data goes missing ?.
As to the question I'd just install to the first, and clean up the others later.

thanks for your replies !

those disks are brand new , and the reason you see it don't have free space , is because i choosed them all in the 1st time when i tried to install it ....
so there is no real data on it


so , what is your suggestion ?
ho can i clean all the disks from the OS i already installed , and install it now on one disk , and keep the rest unallocated [just JBOD of 45 TB]

You can do one of 2 things-


Use G-parted Live to delete all of the partitions of the os you currently have installed. OR,
you can use the Anaconda partition manager to delete all of the partitions and than manually create the partition you want.

After you make your 100 GB /root partition I'm pretty sure that the partition manager will insist on making a /home, /boot and swap partition.
