Problems installing Red Hat Enterprise Linux under VM (IBM)
Hi All (First post)
I'm Trying to install Red Hat Enterprise Linux (v. 5 64-bit IBM System z) using VM 5.3 and reading the CD ISO's on a Linux NFS server. 4 Hours in to the install I get the following The file evince-0.6.0.8.e15.s390x.rpm cannot be opened. this is due to a file is missing, a corrupt package etc. on the VM console I get attempt to access beyond end of device loop3: rw=0, want=1801624, limit=970880 printk: 30 messages suppressed. Buffer I/O error on device loop3, logical block 450405 I think it is looking on CD3 for the data, if I mount CD3.iso evince software is not on it, it is on CD2.iso Has any one successfully installed this level of Linux on a Mainframe. I have been through the FAQ's on the RED HAT site but nothing and unless I pay them for support the will not accept any questions can any one help regards Stuart. |
Mmmm - how did you get RHEL for zSeries if you aren't paying for support ???.
You might do better to ask on vm370 on Marist. But you'll probably get asked the same question. |
Hi You can sign up to REDHAT that enables you to down load the ISO's but if you want support you have to pay for it.

I thought they'd killed that off - especially at RHEL5. Live and learn.
As I said, try the Marist list. |
