Problems compiling LVM2

I'm getting ready to compile the new 2.6.2 kernel in my RH 9 box. I went ahead and installed the required dev mapper, and I'm not trying to compile and install LVM2. The problem is I'm getting an error at the end of the make install, and can't find any info on it. I was hoping someone here could help. There's the error.

make[1]: *** [device/dev-io.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/LVM2.2.00.08/lib'
make: *** [lib] Error 2

Thanks
