problem installing rh 7.1 on as 1000a

Hi i'm a linux newbie and this is my first linux installation.

I'm doing it on an old digital alphaserver 1000a 4/266 with 164MB RAM and a DAC 960P RAID.

After I downloaded the manual for that machine and the utility to configure the RAID, understood what ARC and SRM are and how to boot an OS in the SRM way, I can't install RH 7.1 for alpha because i'm getting the "You do not have valid devices in which create filesystems" error. First, I upgraded the ROM and RAID firmware to 4.58 and 2.73, respectively.
I guess the reason is because the fdisk command in the F2-console doesn't let me create a f#%$ing partition, even tough it perfectly recognizes the raid controller.

I don't have a RAID disk, but four JBOD (two of 4 GB and two of 9 GB !!!) disks perfectly SCSI formatted with the raid app

I also downloaded debian 3.0 r2 and when I choose to make a partition it says I have no disks in which to create partitions.

żAny ideas?
Thanks a lot
