Opening a .bin file?

I need to open a .bin file that I downloaded from Can someone give me step by step instructions on how to do this? I haven't used my Linux box in a while, so I don't remember a lot going into the terminal.

A 'bin' file is typically the extension given to a binary executable. Either change permissions to execute it:

# chmod +x filename.bin
# ./filename.bin

or use a shell interpreter to run it:

# sh ./filename.bin

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
