I have recently downloaded the necessary ISO image files to install RHEL4 WS Update 5 (x86) through the University of Washington (I'm a student there). I created a bootable CD containing the appropriate files. My CPU successfully boots from the disk; I select a language preference, a keyboard type, and then I hit a wall. The prompt asks me to select a device from which to continue installation, or something along those lines. I select "Local CDROM", and I receive an error that says "No Driver Found". My CPU information is listed below; also, as I collect drivers for my hardware, how do I install them during installation of Linux to avoid these kind of errors?

Any advice or similar experience would be very much appreciated.

For anyone interested, I solved my own problem. The installation program was not recognizing the CD-DVD RW that I have connected via IDE. It was booting instead into a lilo-ish environment, instead of from the CD. To fix this, I used the following boot option:

boot: linux all-generic-ide

The program immediately found the CD-ROM and began the installation process through the anaconda GUI. I've since managed to successfully install RHEL4 on my system, with the exception of not having internet access...I've downloaded the appropriate driver, and am currently trying to figure out how to install it...

I just encountered same error while installing RHL 4 on my lenovo t400 with Windows Vista home premium edition already installed on it.

Installation went smooth after changing my SATA mode from 'ACHI' to 'COMAPTIBLE' in BIOS. Controller on some other chipset might have other values like IDE ... etc

in that case simply change mode to RAID and I hope this will fix the 'driver not found' installation issue.

2. I hope you don't mean RHL4; that's from 1996/7 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Hat_Linux
3. RHEL4 is out of support unless you pay extra for EUS http://www.redhat.com/security/updates/errata/
4. Why not get the latest 6.4 ?
5. For RHEL you need to pay to get updates/support. Try Centos (free rebuild of RHEL) if you want free. Inc updates but not support.
