New RHEL WS 3 (RHPW) hangs when installing updates.
Hey guys, I just installed a copy of Red Hat Professional Workstation I bought, which is RHEL WS 3. I activated my subscription and everything else is in order.
When I do my up2date, it selects all the new packages to update (243 or something) and it all goes fine, downloads all of the packagaes. Then when it's time install the packages, I click 'Next' and it goes to Up2date Package Installation,, and sits there... it shows the 2 loader bars, empty... no text displayed(i.e. package names, percentage, etc..) and doesn't do anything past that...
Granted, it is an older machine, that was given to me. It's a Compaq Proliant 800 Server:
200 MHz PentiumPro
192 MB RAM
3x 4.1 GB Wide-Fast SCSI drives in RAID 5 (8.19 GB usable)
So it's not blazing fast... but I have let it sit at this screen for over 30 min. just to see if it was a lag... no luck..
When I try to run up2date -u from console, i get the classic "invalid group id server-cfg" but according to the red hat knowledge base, that's just a cosmetic erorr, and it should still work. After the 'invalid' error, the cursor drops down, on the first column (like it's working) but still nothing happens... thanks for any help guys...
