manually installed rpms not recognized by yum

i installed postgresql manually via rpm -i and now they have their own repo. i would like to update to the latest version. i installed their repo and performed a yum update but yum is not recognizing that there is an update available. i am on rhel 5.2.

also i get this when i enter "yum clean all"
Repository pgdg82 is listed more than once in the configuration

Checking slash posting the actual repo config file and yum verbose slash debug nfo (--disable other repo's and --enable the Postgres one if you do) might help? Also if you can D/L the file any other way you can install it manually for the time being?

You could also try an 'rpm --rebuild' as long as package headers are in /var/cache/yum then this should be good.
