I know that severn is supposed to leave beta and go stable next week, and I was wondering if I install it now, how can I go about updating to the "stable" version next week without redownloading the ISOs. If I have read everything correctly, the beta updates off of rawhide, which I believe is like debians Sid. I wouldn't mind updating off Rawhide until next week, but once it goes stable I would prefer to update out of there instead of the development "rawhide".

I think that there will be a new channel for the final version and rawhide will concentrate on development and the next beta. This is speculation on my part. I am waiting for the final ISO's as I haven't installed on anything but my test machine so far. I am staying away from Rawhide on the final release which I will put on my "working" machine as I think there are too many potential problems. I am not sure if a RHN chanell will be developed or whatever. I don't know how you would know if the test 3 is going to be the same as the final release as they may put in some final changes before the release that might not even make the test three release.

Thanks for your input. I've had more experience with debian and mandrake than I have Red Hat, and I know that with Mandrake it's usually just a change of urpmi sources and updating, and with debain its just an apt-get dist-upgrade (and changing your sources). If Red Hat (fedora) might make such big changes since test 3 that it might not be possible to upgrade this way, maybe I'll just wait until next week. I just wanted to play with it a little, and miss the ISO rush after the release.

I'm looking for the proper repositories once the stable version comes out. I have been using apt-get for about two weeks now and really like it. For the current repositories from fedora.us and a nice rpm binary for apt-get for Fedora, check out http://www.fedora.us/wiki/FedoraHOWTO and "get" it to see how well it works. But I am still in confusion on the sources to use AFTER the final version is out....we will have to wait and see, I guess.

Yeah, I'm sure there will be some download difficulties with everyone trying to download next week...I'm hoping that there will be enough pipelines open to make it not too much of a pain....hey, I really like Fedora...it's going to be a great distro....and another brand-new deal for my computer! Yippee!

Does Microsoft do that? Hmmm...
