Lite On - Red Hat compatibility

I just installed a Lite On dual format dvd rom as (under windows), master on my second ide with mitsumi cd rw as slave.
I finally got it to work under windows 2k (still working out some audio issues),
but I noticed when I booted into Linux it recognized the dvd rom as a cd rom, saying the mount point is /mnt/cdrom.
When I put a movie in and try to play it in Xine, it tells me that either I dont have permission or there is no media on the disk.

My question is after installing this drive, where if at all, do I need to go to configure it in Linux such as drivers and drive recognition.

Thanks guys.
