Linksys Wireless USB Network Adapter, How do I Install?

I have Red Hat 9. I have a Linksys Wireless Access Point that my Windows computer in connected to. The Windows PC uses a 2.4ghz 802.11b Wireless USB Network Adapter and I was wondering if I could use an identical Adapter for my Linux box.

I don't know how to recompile kernels. I've tried downloading kernel source from sites and I try to config them but I don't even know what directory to put them in. I've tried grabbing the driver from the Linksys website and I have no clue where to put the files or how to install them.

Basically I'm a linux newbie. I know about moving around directories and executing files and some minor VI editing and that's about it. Can someone help me install this thing? If not, is there a piece of hardware I can purchase that is both Red Hat 9 compatible plug and play and also works with a Linksys WAP?

The only other option is running a really long cable from the WAP to the Box itself and I don't think my roommate would appreciate that.

If anyone can explain what files I need and where to put them to allow my linux box to recognize this hardware that would be cool.
