LABELs in /etc/fstab and grub.conf
Hi, I'm warping from RedHat 7.x to 9.x. Could someone clarify what the LABEL directive means in /etc/fstab and grub.conf? Perhaps even point me to some documentation? :-)
F'rinstance, In /etc/fstab, I have no idea where LABEL=/12 or LABEL=/boot12. I'm used to just putting in the exact device (e.g. /dev/hdax, etc.). Is there a command I can type or a file I can look at to show me what labels correspond to what devices? Thanks! |
LABELS are just like names for partitions. Personally I would stay away from them especially if you dual boot linux OSs. Just do as you have always done and use the device names.
