KPPP not working, Network Device Control does

Like the title says, in Red Hat 9, and Fedora Beta 2 & 3, KPPP will allow me to dial in to my ISP without any issues, but when I go to the web brower and try to go to a site, it times out saying it can't resolve the name. Then without changing ANYTHING at all, I can go to Network Device Control and "activate" the modem. It dials out, logins in as normal, and the web browser work fine.

I'm pretty sure both of these use ppp to dial out, so why does KPPP not let me resolve the address?

TIA

In both scenarios, check what you get in /etc/resolv.conf -- depending on your configuration, you should see your ISP's name servers listed there.

yea, you need to set your isp's nameservers up in kppp.
looking at /etc/resolv.conf as stated above will show you what is happening.

I haven't checked what gets entered into the /etc/resolv.conf file, but I did enter the ISP name server addresses like I always have in both KPPP and Network Device Control. KPPP actually has many more options and I have set them up exactly as my ISP requires.

I wonder if since I have to enter the ROOT password to use Network Device Control (the exact reason I want to use KPPP) if it writes the nameservers to /etc/resolv.conf and KPPP can't. Hmmm. I'll follow that lead and get back with you. Thanks!
