actually my kernel compilatin (the make bzImage) is alright, the only warning i can see is that my kernel is too big to boot from a floppy. the errors can be found in my modules_make.err, (i followed the sticky for kernel compilation)
almost all of it is full of circular path warnings and all sorts of other recurring things that seem unimportant, lots of ''undeclared'' and stuff, and that doesn't seem to be an issue..the issue is that it keeps ending in error messages, every time. and while i fixed it last time by changing something so it wasn't a module, i have no idea what this is, or even what it means
it is
[code]
/usr/src/linux-2.4.20-20.9/include/net/sock.h:1293: warning: implicit declaration of function `put_cmsg_Rf39bf4d9'
module.c: In function `cipe_check_kernel':

i am running redhat 9, and i am recompiling the latest kernel available via rhn to get ntfs read/write acess. and i know that i souldn't write to ntfs, but i just want to switch a file in xp so i can use custom themes...so if somebody could tell me the name of the ntfs toolkit on sourceforge, or a link i would be greatful. at any rate how can i fix this stupid module compiling errors. and for that matter do i really have to, since i frankly have no idea how to load modules and therefore don't use them. or will rh have a spaz attack over a lack of compiled modules?
Also you can copy your /boot/config****** (whatever version you have here) to /usr/src/linux-2.4 and load that into your ' make xconfig ' and have a good starting point. Then add NTFS and start compiling.
thats pretty much what i did, only with the kernel from up2date. that stuff is from the redirected warnings file is there some way to tell what module that was so i can kill it?

I can't tell what it is compiling at the time. Something in the net section. There might be more info about 20 lines back or more. Not real good at understanding the workings of the kernel.
