Keep RHEL WS 3 updated via SRPMS?

I was wondering if I install RHEL 3 and then download all of the SRPMS from the red hat site.. then do a "rpmbuild --rebuild *.*"

Will I then be completely up2date? (pardon the pun)

Theoretically, this would be correct right??

Maybe I'll just have to try it and see how it works.. I'm sure it will take FOREVER to download all of those SRPMS though... but hey... it's my B-Day weekend.. nothing else going on... lol..

With Redhat packages you might be. What is actually installed right now on your system?

Perhaps some theories could claim its right but others might not agree.. ;)

To me a completely updated machine is one that has the actual updated packages for whatever is installed, not depending on the distro to release the updates.

Thanks... I couldn't figure out how to do all that... So I just downloaded the RHEL 4 WS beta and installed that instead..

It is very cool and seems very stable... I haven't found any bugs yet.. though I've only had it installed since this morning... But i have set up a couple accounts.. set up gaim, x-chat, and my wi-fi connection.. all seems smooth so far...
