Installing RH9, Fatal error!
 

Hey, i downloaded da 3 main discs as iso files of the heanet ftp site and burnt them to cd, and i went to upgrade my installation of 7.3, but near the end of the install i got a message something like this

There was an error installing kdelibs-3.1-10
The can indicate media failure, lack of disk space,
and/or hardware problems. The is a fatal error and
your install will be aborted. Please verify your
media and try your install again.

Press the OK button to reboot your system.

So i taught ok, dodgy cd's, so i ran the install off a boot disk and installed from the isos straight from the hd, Same error!

I even formatted my whole hd wit rh on it, thinking maybe the previous install was messing things up, but no,same error,i even tried extracting the iso, and making a new one!

Any ideas? Without downloading the iso again, i dont have the time, I'll have to start asking around, see does anyone else have disc 2!

Could be corrupt isos, did you do the "mdsums" for your media and compared it with the ones from the mirror you used to download them. Anyway is there any particular reason to install RH9 when its also outdated and has no upgrades.

Im installing this because im used to RH and im going for it! See what its like!
Anyway i checked my install.log and i got this.

I just did a MD5 check and its different, (as it said in the error!) This cant be fixed i presume, i'll have to re-download?!

You can still use fedora which is basically what replaced Redhat Linux and its sponsored by Redhat. If you want enterprise class then you can use RHEL or its clones like CentOS. You will find them easy to use if you are used to Redhat because even though they are newer, they still have the look and feel of the old Redhat Linux. I don't think its a good idea to be running Redhat 9 and below since there are no more security updates for them from Redhat.

Iv decided to try fedora!
Going to download it when i get the chance! ;)
