Question Installing gcc 2.95 in RHEL 3

Is it possible to install gcc 2.95 in RHEL 3?
Whenever I tried with RedHat 8 and 9, i run into problems with ld, that understandebly is compiled with versions of gcc newer that 2.95, and I couldnt figure out how to tell the installer to use another versions of ld.

Any help would be appreciated

this is just a wild guess: rpm -e all your ld rpms, and retry rpm -Uvh your gcc stuff on terminal, and it'll tell you specifically what ld (or whatever else) it needs. if youre compiling, i have no suggestions.

maybe? vm this on a non-critical sys if you can.
just a guess.
