installing drivers


hi could any one give me some advice please.
Not long been using Linux and want to install drivers for my Asus motherboard and Radeon graphic card, problem being don't know were to start or infact what to do, i have downloaded them but its not like windows were you just click and go is it, you have to specify were the drivers are to be installed ye?
Any assistance would be good please, thanks in advance.

what type of file format is it? I mean does the file end in a *.rpm or *.tgz file.

Howzit

Installing rpm type the following rpm -ivh <rpmfiletoinstall> this will install the file onto your box. To Upgrade type rpm -Uvh <rpmfiletoinstall>. To erase from the system type rpm -e <rpmfiletoinstall>. Freshen the current files u have type rpm -Fvh <rpmfiletoinstall>.
